Metro Commercial President, Steven H. Gartner, Appointed as Local Head of International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC)
ICSC serves as the global trade association of the shopping center industry
CONSHOHOCKEN, PA – August 20, 2007 - Steven H. Gartner, President of Metro Commercial Real Estate, the largest locally-based retail real estate company, has been named as the local head of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) for PA, NJ, and DE.
With a worldwide membership of over 72,000, ICSC is the shopping center industry’s leading trade association. Members of ICSC include shopping center owners, developers, managers, marketing specialists, investors, lenders, retailers and other professionals, as well as academics and public officials.
Linking with more than 25 national and regional shopping center councils throughout the world, ICSC strives to advance the development of the shopping center industry and to establish the individual shopping center as a major institution in the community through:
- Promoting the role of shopping centers in the marketing of consumer goods and services.
- Establishing codes of fair business ethics and dealings with retailers and consumers and with government and public agencies.
- Encouraging research into the architecture and design of shopping centers and into the development of improved management and maintenance methods.
Gartner, with over two decades of experience in commercial real estate was a natural choice to lead the council this year. “I plan to continue to motivate each member of the ICSC to work together to insure the continued success of the real estate industry,” says Gartner, “I am honored and thrilled to be leading the ICSC for the region”. Gartner also serves on the Board of Trustees of the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia and is the Real Estate chair for the State of Israel Bonds.
ICSC shapes the image of the shopping center industry by communicating and interpreting industry statistics, trends, and legislative concerns to the national and local media, and provides guidance to members on dealing with the media.
