METRO COMMERCIAL REAL ESTATE IS RECOGNIZED BY PHILADELPHIA RADIO STATION Q102 IN THE FIGHT AGAINST BREAST CANCER
Employees of Metro Commercial collect over 100 bras to hang along Route 1 in hopes of promoting breast cancer awareness.
MT Laurel, NJ– October 10, 2006—Metro Commercial Real Estate, Inc., the region’s premier full-service retail real estate company, announced their successful participation in promoting breast cancer awareness and prevention as part of National Breast Cancer Awareness month.
As the daily winner of Q102’s “Bras along the Boulevard,” the employees of Metro Commercial participated in a company-wide “bra drive.” Metro Commercial Management Services employee, Amber Sanchez, was instrumental in the promotion of Metro Commercial’s efforts, while employee Roberta Nelson coordinated with Curves gym in Clementon, New Jersey, to collect the bras. The collected bras will form a chain across Route 1 on October 13, 2006, when Q102’s morning personality Booker will hold a live broadcast to promote breast cancer awareness.
“It’s a strange thing to do, but it’s the perfect way to get the message across. It’s important that people are aware of the risks, and the need for regular screening,” said Metro Commercial’s Nancy Van Istendal, the organizer of the drive.
Breast cancer kills about 400,000 women worldwide each year, and doctors say regular screening, especially for women over 50, is vital for early detection, which is crucial to a woman’s chances of survival.
